We will be celebrating the holiday season by making gingerbread houses.  Please let us know if you can donate any items for this class family activity.  Please contact us via e-mail  at angelabauza@dadeschools.net  OR  nyaghdjian@dadeschools.net.  You may also provide us with your e-mail address at the bottom portion of this form and we will contact you with the item that we need.

In addition, if you have not already done so, please send in a white t-shirt, labeled with your child’s name, to school.  We are decorating these shirts in class.  Your child may wear this t-shirt the day of the celebration.

Hello Parents.
We hope you are having a great week!
Our Math Chapter 4 Test will be on Monday, December 11, 2017.  A review packet was sent home today and the on-line practice test is available on the student portal (Please see the review packet for instructions on how to access the pratice test).
There are NO NEW SPANISH VOCABULARY words this week.  We are still working on last week's story. Therefore, there will be no Spanish Vocabulary Quiz this week.
Next week we will visit the BGEC PTSA HOLIDAY STORE on: Monday, December 11 and Wednesday, December 13.
Career Day will be held on Friday, December 15.

Hello Parents!  We hope you have had a great week!  Thank you for the AMAZING SUPPORT of our SCHOOL THANKSGIVING PAN CON LECHON FUNDRAISER!!!!
Here are a few reminders for next week:
Our Thanksgiving picnic will take place MONDAY, NOVEMBER 20 from 1-2:45 pm.  ALL PARENTS ARE WELCOME!
If you purchased pan con lechon, it will be disdributed upon your arrival.  If you missed the Pre-sale and you wish to buy pan con lechon, they will be selling a limited supply the day of the event.  Also, you may pack or bring your own lunch to share with your child. 
We will have seating available inside and outside the classrooms.  You are welcome to bring blankets, towels or chairs to sit outside with your family.  However, if you wish to eat outside and are planning to take your child home after the event, please sign them out PRIOR to leaving our classroom.
Please don't forget to pick up your child's Thanksgiving Arts and Crafts and stop by our class photo booth!
We will also have NO HOME LEARNING next week!

A BIG thank you to all the students who have brought in socks for the Homeless Awareness Day collection.  Thank you to Mr. Sanchez for visiting our class and presenting for Veterans Day!
Reminders:
Monday, November 13-
1.  If a student wants to retake the picture they need to bring back the entire picture package on retake day and their picture will be retaken. 
Also, if a student was absent or wants to purchase a picture package they may do so on retake day.  There are picture envelopes in the front office.

Thanksgiving Celebration: Please support our school's very important fundraiser! BGEC will sell a pan con lechon, chips and a soda for $6 - Families are invited to join us on this day! This is a schoolwide event.
The Pre-Sales will be as follows:

** Students may wear Halloween costumes to school.  No toy weapons, masks or clown costumes allowed per administration. 
** Students may visit Haunted House with parent permission form SIGNED.  This form was sent home on Friday, October 27.  Please see flyer/form for price and further information.
Friday, Nov. 3-  BOOK FAIR PREVIEW.  (Our class will visit the bookfair for purchases on Nov. 6th and 8th.)

Dear Parents,
We hope you are all well.  The following are a few reminders:
1.  Picture Day is tomorrow, Wed. October 11.  Please refer to the flyer sent home last week.  ALL students will be taking pictures.  All students must wear their school uniform.  If you wish to purchase pictures, please go to www.foxmar.com/prepay or send a CASH payment tomorrow.  All cash payments should be turned in to the photographer, not the teacher.  If you choose to prepay, please print or write down the confirmation number.  Your child should give the confirmation number to the photographer.
2.  Please practice accessing "Think Central" for math via the student portal with your child. 
3.  Please remember to have your child complete 2 Math i-Ready sessions and log them onto the weekly log sheet sent home.  Sessions should be no more than 20 minutes.  Your child must complete 2 sessions per week.  Logs are always due on Monday.
4.  A Hispanic Heritage Project was sent home with your child today.  This project is due Monday, October 16, 2017.  This project is worth 2 grades: 1 for Spanish and 1 for Social Studies.  Please write the information in English. This is your child's ONLY Spanish home learning for the week. There will be NO Spanish vocabulary words this week.
5.  We are about to finish Chapter 2. We will have our Math Test next week.  A Chapter 2 Review packet will be sent home later this week.  The Chapter 2 Test date will be announced later this week.
6.  Next week, our school will celebrate SPIRIT WEEK!  A flyer went home today.  Please refer to the flyer for more information.

Dear Parents:
Below are some improtant reminders for math and spanish.
Math- Test
Your child took home a Math Chapter 1 review packet.  This packet will help your child prepare for the Math Chapter 1 Test on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017.  This is a review packet and should be used at your discretion.  Supplemental IXL lessons for the chapter have been included but are NOT required to be completed.  
Math- IXL
Today, we began to use a computer program called IXL.  Today,  your child was assigned one Math IXL lesson to complete for home learning tonight.  Please use the parent letter in their red home learning folder to help you access the website and account.  Please keep this letter in their folder at all times.  Your child's username is their first name and last name followed by the number 581.  There should be no spaces and all letters should be lowercase.  The password is bobcat.
For example...

Password: bobcat                  
Don't forget to click on the correct grade level on the left side of the webpage to access the correct lesson.  Students should complete the lesson until they get to a score of 80.  
Spanish- Vocabulary Quiz
On Friday, Sept. 22 your child will have a spanish vocabulary quiz.  Please study the worksheet that was sent home.

Friday, Sept. 1
Today we received our class agendas.  Thank you PTSA!  Information will be sent home with your child today. Please read the letter, sign it and return it to school on Tuesday, September 5. 
The PTSA is requesting that teachers have a "classroom" mom or dad that will represent our class at General PTSA meeting and forward the information to the rest of the parents in our class (great way to keep everyone informed and have more participation). If you are a parent in our class that is willing to be that liaison please e-mail us.  We will radomly select a parent from each homeroom next week.
There is no school on Monday, September 4.  We wish you a safe and restful weekend!

Welcome to our classroom!  It is a pleasure to have your child in our class.  Our goal is to promote an educational climate that is conducive to learning. 

School will begin on Monday, August 21, 2017.  School doors will open at 7:30 A.M.  The last bell for second graders will ring at 8:35 A.M.   Our classroom locations are as follows:
